Helena and I met at the 2023 Petagogy & Theatre of the Oppressed Conference. My mom, her teacher, thought we would make great collaborators. So when it came time to produce her capstone one-woman play, I was thrilled to sign on.
We did turn out to be a great match. I flew solo as a director/dramaturg for the first time. She flew solo as a writer for the first time.
We weren't all the way in the deep end, but we were on our tippy toes, helping each other learn to float.

After working with Kelly on Once, Orange Julius felt like the natural next step in our working relationship.
Production meetings began while I was still a student, then I was hired back as a guest artist when auditions began in the fall
